Candles by Maleka is a small-batch candle company based in Aspen, Colorado. Every candle is hand-poured with care, using clean ingredients and vessels that already have a story. I believe that slowing down and savoring the little daily things is really important, and my candles are made with that in mind.
I’ve always loved little daily rituals like making my morning cappuccino, turning on music, and yes, lighting candles all day long, not just at night. Those small moments set the tone for my day and make ordinary routines feel a little more special.
how it all started
My love of candles really began with my mom, who is a beekeeper. One year while we were harvesting honey, we tried collecting beeswax too. It didn’t exactly work out, but it made me want to learn more. I started researching clean, non toxic products and made my very first candles into vintage teacups with saucers. They were sweet and simple, and I was instantly hooked.
Since then, I’ve refined my process, but I’ve kept that same spirit of reusing and repurposing. Most of my candle vessels are thrifted, rescued from the landfill shop, picked up at ReStore, or given a second life from old candle jars. I love the idea of giving something that might have been tossed away a new home and new purpose.
